Benner Elementary SchoolAs an intern at Benner Elementary, I implemented many School Counseling interventions. I participated in the SAP, IEP, and Tier II teams. I ran groups including grief, social skills, transition, study skills, and anxiety. I organized Student of the Month and participated in the School Wide Program implementation. I counseled students independently and in groups using child-centered theory and solution-focused techniques. I was hired as the long-term School counseling substitute from May-June 2018.

Girls Wanna RunI volunteered with the Girls Wanna Run program through my internship site, Benner Elementary. The group consisted of 4th and 5th grade students. Practices, which were twice a week for eight weeks, including themes and activities designed to empower girls. We discussed topics such as peer/societal pressure, inner beauty, mindfulness, and self-image.

Double H Ranch, A Serious Fun CampDouble H Ranch is a free summer camp for children, ages 6-16, with physical disabilities and/or serious illnesses. As a camp counselor, responsibilities included facilitating accessible activities throughout the day while meeting the children's medical needs. Disabilities included Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, HIV/AIDS, Cancer, etc.

Penn State Dance MarathonTHON, the largest student run philanthropy in the world, raises money to support the fight against pediatric cancer. My roles have included Dancer Relations Committee Member, Family Relations Captain, and Family Relations Chair for OHANA, a Special Interest Organization. As the Family Relations Bereaved Family Contact, I worked with over 60 families who lost a child to cancer. For OHANA, I served as the Family Relations Chair by coordinating with the three Four Diamonds Families we were paired with and applying for with a new family pairing which we received that year.

The Children's Institute of PittsburghCamp Success is a free summer program provided to low income families. It targets children with developmental, intellectual, or physical disabilities. As the Team Leaders, my partner and I were responsible for all activities and volunteers. We developed programs for art, team building, and pool time for over 60 children and 15 volunteers.

Patzun, GuatemalaI participated in a mission trip to Guatemala through my church. We collaborated with a group of nuns who ran a school and orphanage/hospital in the small village of Patzun. My group painted the exterior wall of the school campus and the interior of the hospital. We spent time with the children who lived in the orphanage as well as locals and professionals in the area.

Carnegie Towers, Section 8 HousingBeginning in 2012, I volunteered with the children who live in the Carnegie Towers, Section 8 housing south of Pittsburgh. I coordinated community events such as holiday parties and teen nights. I worked with the free lunch program to bring weekly volunteers to spend time with the children throughout the day.
